For those of you who don’t know, I am thrilled to announce that I have been signed by Immergent records with my band “Steve Postell & The Key”. Our single, “Cards On The Table” will be available March 14, and is the featured theme on the MTV production, “VH1 Celebrity Rockstar Poker Tournament”, which begins airing on March 14th as well. The album will feature some very special guest performances. I am taking a one day break from recording to perform this weekend an acoustic duo with legendary guitarist BUZZY FEITEN. Replacing Michael Bloomfield in The Paul Butterfield Blues Band at age 19, Buzzy’s illustrious career has seen him playing with Bob Dylan, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Rickie Lee Jones, and many, many more.
I hope to see you there, and please keep an eye out for the new record.

Lots going on these days. The Jennifer Warnes/Leonard Cohen CD "20th Anniversary of Famous Blue Raincoat" is going very well. We spent the day at Leonard's studio shooting footage for the DVD. Very cool! The song I wrote with Joel Derouin "Cards On The Table" has been picked by MTV/VH1 as the theme song for their new show "VH1 celebrity rock poker tournament". It features "Mona Liza" on violins and vocals. I'll be gigging again soon...keep an eye out.

Birthday Gig
-
August 21, 2006
On Sept 3rd, 2006, I will have a birthday. I will be xx!@!!0.... let me try that again I will be $$#!X*?0 years old. Gee, some of the number keys seem to be sticking on my computer. Anyway, not knowing exactly what to do with myself, (Ashram in India? Climb a mountain in Tibet?) I called some great friends who happen to be incredible musicians, and asked them to play a gig with me in my hometown of New York City. I know...not very original, but it seems to make the most sense. I've been living in Los Angeles for a couple of years, where I have a great studio with my friend Steve Ferrone, but I was born & raised in Manhattan, will always really be a New Yawker. I played my first gig in the city in 19!x&$// ... there go those keys again! So please come join me and Steve Holly, Marc Shulman, Mike Veseglia, my sister Sue, and other special guests as we play some new and old songs of mine on Sept. 5th, Tuesday night, 7:30pm , The Cutting Room : 19 W.24th Street, New York City
(212) 691-1900
No cakes, no cards, no presents, just come hang out, listen to some tunes...and feel free to tell me how young I look. I hope to see you there,
All the best,
Steve
All Star Aspen Show
-
August 4, 2006
My friend, Warren Stickney, recently married the lovely Colette at the Aspen Institute on July 29, and he asked me to put together an all-star band. So here we go: I got my great friend Jonny Rosch, whose band "JD & The Straight Shot" is currently touring with "The James Gang" to join us on keyboards, harmonica and lead vocals. Jonny has played with Phoebe Snow, Al Kooper and many others. On drums we had Tom Brechtlein, currently touring with Kenny Loggins as well as Chick Corea, and who has played with Rickee Lee Jones, Eric Johnson and many others. Joining him on bass was his old bandmate from Robben Ford and The Blue Line...Roscoe Beck, who toured last year with The Dixie Chicks and is currently back with Eric Johnson. Just to go all out for the gig we added a second drummer, Joe Pusateri, who has played with Richie Havens, Ramsey Lewis, Mickey Thomas. On keyboards my friend Jay Oliver made the trip, currently touring with Dave Weckle, Jay has played with The Eagles, Jimmy Buffet, and Sheryl Crow. Suzanne Paris, who sings with dave Mason, sang and played acoustic guitar. On guitar, we had my great friend Jeff Pevar, who plays with CS&N, and has toured with everyone from Ray Charles, Joe Cocker, Phil Lesh as well as many others. Our first special guest was legendary guitarist Jeff "Skunk" Baxter, who played with the original bands The Doobie Bros and Steeley Dan (it sent chills when we played Reeling In The Years and he ripped into the opening solo!) And finally, we played an entire set with John Oates, who played original material, a few songs he and I have written together, and some legendary Hall & Oates material. It was a stellar night, and as much fun as the people at the party had, I have to believe we had even more fun on stage. MANY THANKS to everyuone involved. This is why I do this. Hopefully we will re-create this show somewhere again!
